Sylvia Pope received her B.S. degree in Biology at the University of New York (Albany) and a M.S. degree in Computer Science at Pace University in New York. She is currently a certified teacher in middle school mathematics and computer science. She is a strong advocate for challenging students to push their boundaries, become self-motivated and learn that an “I can do this” mindset will achieve great successes.
Sylvia’s other work experiences include working as a software-engineer for IBM and Lockheed Martin for several years. She was a member of the United States Air Force Reserves shortly after graduating college. She has taught for several years in the Archdiocese of Washington, DC and was an adjunct teacher at the College of Southern Maryland.
When she is not teaching, she has many interests that keep her busy. Her priorities are on church, family and fitness. She enjoys being part of the local bicycle club, and has competed in triathlons during the summertime. Family outings often include outdoor activities. She and her husband have three children.
