Hi! My name is Katie Carney (Lott). I was born and raised in Prince George’s County. I attended public school through eighth grade and then graduated from Riverdale Baptist. I always knew I wanted to work as an educator, as early as elementary school. I did not know which path I would take at first. I wanted to do it all: special education, reading resource, librarian, language arts. I graduated from PGCC in 2006, LSU in 2009 with a BA in English, and Notre Dame of Maryland with my Masters in Leadership in Teaching in 2012. Around this time, I had three of God’s greatest blessings and decided to stay at home with them. I was able to teach English at the College of Southern Maryland (800, 900, 1010, and 1020) in the evenings and continue to do so. I recently started the process of obtaining my doctorate in Education, into which I will hopefully embark fully in the near future.
I feel privileged and called to work in a Catholic school environment allowing me to incorporate my faith into my instruction which is very important to me. My favorite things to do are reading, listening to a variety of music, watching “girly” TV shows with my mom, and trying new foods. My biggest pet peeves are procrastination and no names on papers 🙂
