Ms. Smith is so pleased to be welcomed into the Mother Catherine Academy family. She looks forward to a successful year in which students will learn about the world and praise its Creator through the gift of music.

Growing up in Prince George’s County, Ms. Smith participated in band, chorus, and musical theater at Queen Anne School in Upper Marlboro, and choir and bell choir at Camp Springs Presbyterian Church. During her attendance at George Washington University, she enjoyed coursework in music theory, flute, voice, and piano. Her vocal studies led to participation in an a cappella group.

Ms. Smith later moved to Florida, where she became a member of Saint Anthony the Abbott Catholic Church in Brooksville. There, she served the church through catechesis, cantoring, and choir. She was invited by the First United Methodist Church to provide flute accompaniment for their Christmas and Easter Cantatas.

In addition to catechesis of middle school students, her teaching experience includes substitute teaching of all grade levels in the Hernando County Public School system. Returning to Maryland with her sister and her younger daughter, she registered at St. Aloysius in Leonardtown and eagerly joined their vibrant music ministry as a cantor, choir member, and flautist.

Ms. Smith encourages all students to participate with confidence and joy in their musical endeavors.
