LORI RUSSELL

SECOND GRADE TEACHER

ABOUT ME

Mrs. Russell has 24 years of teaching experience. In those years of teaching, she has had the pleasure of teaching different age groups as well as students with different developmental needs.

Her first four years of teaching experience included meeting the needs of special education students in a fourth and fifth grade resource setting. She also worked with students of various ages and with different developmental and educational needs in a SAIL Program. These teaching experiences have given Mrs. Russell an opportunity to use different strategies and teaching methods to meet the needs of her students.

Mrs. Russell also has four years of teaching experience in a Montessori School teaching two to six year olds using the Montessori Method of teaching. These years of training and teaching experiences have given Mrs. Russell firm background in hands-on teaching strategies.

At Mother Catherine Spalding School, Mrs. Russell taught fourth grade for nine years, kindergarten for three years, fifth grade for one year, and second grade for three years. Mrs. Russell truly enjoys teaching in a Catholic School and sharing her strong Catholic faith and Christian values with her students.

Mrs. Russell is a certified teacher in the state of Maryland, she is also a certified Montessori Teacher, and a certified Catechist as well. Mrs. Russell is a firm believer in a strong academic program that is enhanced with Catholic teachings and values. She believes that all children can and will learn when given a safe, nurturing, and encouraging environment where they can explore and develop. She also understands that even though all children can learn, they do not necessarily learn in the same way. Mrs. Russell knows that it takes a variety of teaching methods and strategies to meet the needs of all children.

Mrs. Russell has six children of her own and three grandchildren. She is a parishioner at Holy Angels Church in Avenue, Maryland. She teaches second grade CCD at her parish and is an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist. She enjoys spending time with her family and cheering for her children who participate in a variety of sports including Special Olympics.
